Thomson Wilks continues to expand. We’re looking for ambitious attorneys to join our exceptional team. Our innovative model affords attorneys the freedom associated with running your own practice with the prestige, administrative efficiency and support of a high-profile law firm.
Distinct from our attorneys who join as remote or consultant attorneys are our employed attorneys. Employed attorneys are remunerated directly by the firm and do not share fees. The employed attorneys form the core group of attorneys who comprise CAs, associates and directors. The firm is regularly looking to expand the core group of attorneys, especially in the areas of M&A, Labour, Mining and specialist fields of law.
Our consultant attorneys work remotely, from a home office or at a workspace of their choosing, supported by resources in our offices in Cape Town and Durban, as well as our head office in Sandton.
The unique model offers the best of both worlds. As a Thomson Wilks attorney, you set your own targets and determine your own fees. At the same time, you get to enjoy the prestige of being a Thomson Wilks attorney as well as the perks, benefits and support that comes with being part of the firm.
Thomson Wilks conducts regular PR and media engagement to maintain our high company profile and spotlight our attorneys’ specialisations and expertise.
Thomson Wilks attorneys are featured on our website and have access to our online tools and facilities. Our attorneys also have access to our law library and use of boardrooms, as well as access to typing facilities, litigation support and research assistance. All the resources needed to provide an effective and professional service are provided by the firm – wherever you choose to practice.
Additionally, our attorneys experience the significant networking benefit usually associated with conventional established firms. For example, our clients receive invitations to the Thomson Wilks suite at Wanderers stadium and are regularly invited to participate in organised promotional activities.
Our centralised accounts department manages your invoicing, collections, client account queries and the distribution of fees collected. We manage the trust account and all deposits into and payments from it.
The firm also takes care of the annual trust audit, BEE accreditation (we are a level 1 contributor) and maintains significant professional indemnity insurance.
You may be an attorney working in a large firm who wants to take control of your own practice. Or perhaps you’re a sole practitioner frustrated by spending so much time on administration at the cost of fee-generating activities. Becoming a Thomson Wilks attorney could be a life-changing opportunity.
