Andrew Turner is a Director at Thomson Wilks in the Durban office with an established corporate and commercial practice. He advises listed companies, private equity investors, owner-managed businesses and other public and private clients on mergers and acquisitions, strategic transactions and ongoing corporate matters, with particular experience in transactions extending across African jurisdictions.
Andrew has extensive experience advising on significant corporate transactions, including acquisitions, joint ventures and disinvestments. His work has involved high-value and multi-jurisdictional matters requiring coordination across different regulatory frameworks, as well as the implementation of broader M&A strategies for major South African corporates. His sector experience includes logistics, food production, FMCG, hospitality, manufacturing, property, financial services and services businesses.
His practice extends through the full transaction lifecycle, from initial feasibility assessments and due diligence to structuring, negotiation, contractual implementation and post-completion matters. Andrew also advises businesses on corporate restructuring, governance and strategic decision-making as they grow, restructure or reposition.
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Laws from Rhodes University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Law from the University of the Free State and a Master of Laws in Environmental Law from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He is a member of the Environmental Law Association and the International Association for Impact Assessment in South Africa (IAIAsa).
