Neil has extensive experience in corporate and commercial law, with a particular focus on multi –jurisdictional transactions, acquisitions, corporate structuring and share transactions. He has lived in Mauritius for a number of years where he served as in-house counsel to a major global fiduciary services management company. During this time he led and advised on a number of high-value transactions between various multi-national companies and private equity investors. He has in-depth knowledge of the Companies Act, drafts all related company agreements, and advises directors on their fiduciary responsibilities, corporate governance and transactional risks. He has also authored published articles on corporate governance and offshore structuring.
His sectors of experience include mining and aviation. He currently advises mining clients on internal administrative appeals, competing rights disputes, mining-related litigation and compliance under the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act. He also represents an international helicopter operating company and has drafted transactional documents and advised on various leasing/charter agreements and aircraft sale transactions.
Neil is a seasoned commercial litigation lawyer and was previously a director of one of the leading insolvency firms in South Africa. He has been involved in various large liquidations such as that of Retail Apparel Group, Edcon and Intramed. He advises corporate clients on business rescue and insolvency proceedings. He holds BComm and LLB degrees and has the right of appearance in the Gauteng and Kwa-Zulu Natal High Courts.
